@kpk @jkru Depends on where the buildtime/runtime split is.
@kpk @jkru Java and C might have a buildtime dependency in generating JNI interfaces.
@kpk @jkru Whereas JS and Java may only interact at runtime over a stable API and not need build-time checked versioning.
