These instructions are only valid for v10.3 (Panther)!

1. Modify /etc/hostconfig:
   
   
   • Add the line LDAPSERVER=-YES-
     
     
   • Change the line NETINFOSERVER=-AUTOMATIC- to NETINFOSERVER=-YES-
   
   
2. Check to see if the follwing file exists: /var/db/netinfo/network.nidb
   
   If this file does not exist, run the following command to create it: nidomain -m network
   
   
3. Restart.
   
   
4. grep for slapd.
